We offer a rewarding and stimulating work environment.POSITION SUMMARY:The SHOAL Centre Assistant works in accordance with the mission, vision and values of BeaconCommunity Services. The SHOAL Community Centre in Sidney utilizes a multi-dimensionalapproach in the provision of community services by combining recreation, volunteer services andfood services. The Centre also houses residents in Assisted Living and Independent Living units.The SHOAL Centre Assistant will support administrative needs of SHOAL Centre, Better at Homeprogram, activities and rental departments.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide a safe and supportive work environment for volunteers, members, residents,and community membersSupports Office Coordinator and reception area as requiredAssists the public with general inquiries, information and referral, and navigation ofsupportsSupports Beacon Community Services volunteer services, rentals and catering, activitiesand community centre programmingSupports Better at Home program and SHOAL Centre programming with data baseclean up and entryWorks with SHOAL Centre Manager to create a monthly events calendar andpreparation and printing of marketing materialsSupports social media and online marketing of SHOAL programsAttends staff meetings and other meetings as requiredResponds to needs and inquiries from members, volunteers and residents in person, bytelephone or emailResponds to emergencies such as accidents and fire alarmsResponsible for following safe work policies and procedures and reporting unsafework conditions, near misses, hazards and injuriesActs as SHOAL’s Joint Occupational Health and Safety representative.Other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS:WHMIS Certificate (to be renewed semi-annually)Clear Solicitor General Criminal Record CheckServing it RightFoodsafe preferredFirst Aid preferredAble to effectively use a computer and electronic devicesKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Database ManagementSkilled in the use of computers, the internet and electronic devicesKnowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop an assetAPPLICATIONS:All interested applicants can Apply Now! quoting the position number 2021-044.
