  • The demonstration of instrument sensitivity, linearity, calibration verification and stability meets the required standard – sign off responsibility
  • The demonstration of instrument carryover (instrument blank following calibration standard) meets the required standard – sign off responsibility
  • Chromatography quality and where required GC resolution meet standard – sign off responsibility
  • Spot check of laboratory worksheets for completeness and accuracy • Blanks, duplicate tests and reference spikes/CRMs meet quality specifications
  • Surrogate recoveries meet method, contract and internal control specifications • Analyte responses are within calibration range
  • Detection limit criteria are met
  • Sample to sample carryover has not affected results • Absence of sample contamination by inspection of laboratory and instrumental blanks and replicate analysis/injection data
  • Documentation of results that do not meet all QA/QC criteria – send information in e-mail to Project Manager, and Lead Chemist, along with workgroup tabulation report – recommend next steps to Project Manager and implement remedial action if required, in line with prior or revised schedule, as agreed with Project Manager.
  • Routinely meet productivity expectations
Instrument Operation:
  • The demonstration of instrument sensitivity, linearity, calibration verification and stability meets the required standard
  • The demonstration of instrument carryover (instrument blank following calibration standard) meets the required standard
  • Note any chromatographic anomalies in samples, peak shape, interference, analyst levels, shifting, and response stability.
  • Chromatography quality and where required GC resolution meet standard
  • Correct sample identification (run sequence = vial order) • Create and document chromatograph and acquisition methods
  • Routine instrument maintenance including column work, inlet maintenance, filament replacement, source cleaning, - sign off on runlists and maintenance logs. • For LC – prepare mobile phases
  • Extract archiving and disposal
Qualifications
  • Education: Technical Diploma or BSc. in Chemistry or related science
  • Experience: over 3 to 5 years’ experience in a laboratory setting.
Specific technical skills:
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to achieve common goals and objectives;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work;
  • Highly organized, self- motivated and energetic.
  • Willingness to participate in flexible work schedules (including evenings and weekends);
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills in English including grammar and composition.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
