  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Biological Sciences or a related field, plus 4 years of related experience**, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience** may be considered.
  • Registered (or immediately eligible*) as a Registered Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in B.C. with the College of Applied Biology within six months of employment.
  • Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a Professional Biologist (RP Bio) with the College of Applied Biology within 6 months of appointment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be confirmed. If you are not currently registered, advise how you have confirmed with the CAB that you are immediately eligible.
**Related experience includes the following:
  • Experience assessing and monitoring natural resources that include engagement with First Nations.
  • Experience in wildlife management projects or programs including collaboratively delivered work with First Nations.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading programs, projects, or initiatives related to the management, protection, or recovery of species or ecosystems.
  • Experience preparing and submitting professional documents (e.g. briefing notes, information notes, early-warning notes, minister response letters).
  • Experience managing complex and sensitive natural resource management issues or projects related to wildlife or wildlife habitat in a team environment.
Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:
  • Master of Science or PhD in Biological Sciences or a related field;
  • Experience working in a matrix team environment;
  • Wildlife management experience including project development, field work for data collection, data analysis, reporting, conveying management recommendations to relevant parties;
  • Experience with habitat supply modelling;
  • Engaging with First Nations on controversial wildlife management programs or projects;
  • Proactively engaging with First Nations on wildlife work leading to collaborative outcomes or recommendations;
  • Experience interpreting and applying Wildlife Act-related management legislation and policy in BC.
