As a member of the Smithers Community Services Association (SCSA) team, you are fully engaged in your work, you take personal responsibility for your experience with the Association, you are a professional who operates from a place of ethics and integrity and you are prepared to evolve, change and grow as a result of working here.PROGRAM: Goodacre Place Supportive HousingPOSITION: Cook - Part-time - 2 days a week -5 hour shifts - days negotiable - COVID Vaccinations requiredPROGRAM SUMMARY:Goodacre Place Supportive Housing is a 22 unit supported housing project offering long-term tenancies and short-term emergency stays for people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. Goodacre Place Supportive Housing is developed in partnership with BC Housing, the Town of Smithers and Smithers Community Services Association. Together we provide program participants with affordable housing, meals, case planning, social and recreation activities, and other training and workshops. The units are bachelor style and designed for single occupancy, two are wheelchair accessible. To be considered eligible for supportive housing an individual must be experiencing homelessness or be at risk of becoming homeless.POSITION SUMMARY:The cook is responsible for planning for and preparing a delicious and nutritious hot dinner for 20-30 people. The cook assists with meal service and cleans up their own dishes after the meal service. The cook works with the Goodacre Place manager to prepare a meal plan and coodinate the food inventory to ensure adherence to the meal plan. The cook contributes expertise, coordination, and assistance, in the production and delivery of quality meal service for SCSA.
