  • Comments:This posting is covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination orders and selected applicant(s) must comply.Position SummaryIf you are looking for friendly, supportive staff, work life balance and affordable living this may be just the opportunity that will take your career to a new level.Performs a variety of clerical duties, such as receiving patients, answering telephones, booking appointments, explaining imaging procedures and preparations to patients and maintaining an accurate up-to date filing system.Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Tuesday to Friday / Days - 07:30 to 15:30Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 19-bed acute care hospital which integrates home and community care into one facility. Services include emergency/outpatient, medical/surgical, maternity, palliative care, laboratory, radiology, pediatrics, home & community care and community cancer clinic. The medical staff in Smithers consists of family physicians, anesthetists, a pediatrician, visiting surgeons and other specialists.Smithers has a population of 5,401 (2021) local residents and is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges that provide a backdrop for the towns’ Alpine setting.     • Qualifications
  • Grade 12 plus one (1) year’s recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to type 45 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
