Our industry recognition is a testament to the family values we share with our parent company, McCain Foods Limited.About the RolePricing AnalystFull-timeSomerville, NBThe Pricing Analyst - Rates is responsible for determining terms, conditions and rates for new and existing customers to ensure profitablility of accounts by analyzing rate requests to create new customer tariffs or amend existing customer tariffs within established company profit margins.How You’ll Help

  • Receive and review rate requests from account managers; approve or reject based on profit margin and established protocols
  • Validate key elements of customer shipments against internal and public information regarding the customer profile; return requests that cannot be validated to account manager for resubmission
  • Perform cost analysis on requested rates to ensure profitability by applying cost factors for linehaul, dock, pick up or delivery charges, and any assessorials within established profit margins against requested rates
  • Support negotiations with customers by advising Account Managers on rate approval and/or increases necessary to maintain profit margin; create tariff with finalized rates in place
  • Prepare cost analyses balanced against multiple variable scenarios and aligned with customer requirements for RFP tender submissions
  • Update and coordinate customer information across multiple internal & customer customer web platforms
  • Select current tariffs requiring validation by performing profile studies such as shipment density and volume; if customer freight profile is not as expected, perform a tariff review to determine operating ratio and collaborate with Account Managers to correct
  • Review unrated exception bills; assign rates and return to Billing within established time parameters
  • Assist Spot Quote team with nonstandard requests
  • Support annual tariff reviews as required
  • Other related duties as may be required
Your Skills & Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree in business or related field, university preferred
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in rating and/billing in the transportation industry

  • Excellent computer skills; including advanced Excel and the ability to learn new programs and platforms
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations and scenarios
  • Advanced communication skills including the ability to relay information (verbal and written) between several parties, across departments, functions, divisions; the ability to prepare detailed and accurate presentations both numerical and text driven
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills; the ability to deal with variables and limited standardization and make solid decisions and recommendations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and prioritize appropriately in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to multitask in a deadline driven environment; appropriate sense of urgency and agility to handle changing priorities
  • Sound judgement and business acumen in developing and successfully implementing strategies to achieve profitability objectives
  • Results focused; able to hold others accountable
  • Strong team and customer service focus; relationship building, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
