LOFT is recognized as a Nonprofit Employer of Choice™ Award(NEOC) recipient and we believe that our LOFTy culture is at the core of everything we do.To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a casual Cook.JOB SUMMARY:The Dietary Aide renders a range of services that relate to the operation of the kitchen.These responsibilities include the preparation and service of food for the meals as scheduledand for other special occasions as requested and the storing and stocking of food. Cleaningduties pertaining to maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room, as well asother delegated responsibilities, are included to ensure the efficient operation of thekitchen’s food service.

  • Note: Staff may be required to work in a person’s own home and may therefore be
exposed to second hand smoke. All LOFT employees are required to be fully COVID-19vaccinated as a condition of hire in accordance with LOFT’s Vaccination Policy. A satisfactoryvulnerable sector check (VSC) is also required.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve the prepared food for scheduled meals, snacks and other occasions, asrequested, according to the menu plan; serve the prepared appropriate food forthose on special diets as required. Setting and clearing the tables in the dining room. Serving the main meal to residents, by table or in a serving line, monitoring foodtemperature at all times. Preparing and delivering food trays to apartments during meals and other times. Assisting residents with their meals, (e.g. opening sugar packets, creamers, cuttingfood, etc.) noting and reporting any residents who are absent from the main meal. Clean all stoves, refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, pantry and all other equipmentand areas that are associated with kitchen’s food service. Washing and storing dishes after meals, cleaning, wiping and vacuuming the diningroom and tables. Assisting residents with the purchase food items, accepting coupons/cash, makingchange, wrapping items. Assist with inventory of stock rooms, storage areas and refrigerator/freezer units;accept and store deliveries/food in proper areas and according to policy. Fulfil other assignments as delegated by the Food Services Coordinator. Storing all food deliveries and rotating stock. Reporting any needed supplies or equipment malfunctions, as required. Understanding of cultural competency and anti-oppression framework.
