Qualifications:Essential:
  • Experience assessing and verifying information to determine eligibility to a program or for services
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds (persons with disabilities, persons who are financially and/or socially disadvantaged, newcomers, different cultures etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure with accuracy in an environment with competing demands
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with the public, program participants, staff and or agencies
  • Effective problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Effective written communication skills
  • Ability to make sound judgment in disbursing public funds
  • Experience interpreting, applying or explaining legislation, regulations or policies to others
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Applications particularly Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook

Duties:The Financial Worker functions as a member of a case management team responsible for providing Employment and Income Assistance program services. The incumbent communicates regularly with clients, agencies and other stakeholders by telephone, in writing or in person. The incumbent calculates, processes and issues benefits in accordance with the Employment and Income Assistance Act, Regulations and policies. The incumbent reviews, recommends, orders and/or authorizes expenditures for emergency, health and/or special needs and home & minor repairs submitted by clients.
