Job Description

We are looking for a Machine Operator to join the Grinding Room Team on the day shift. If you have strong attention to detail, are mechanically inclined, and ready to take the next step in your career with Loewen – We encourage you to apply! This is a full-time, permanent position.Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PMDuties:

  • Provide tooling service including the following:
  • Sharpening profile heads
  • Sharpening straight heads
  • Sharpening circular cutter heads
  • Maintain tooling
  • Template & knife preparation
  • Tooling set-up
  • Sharpening and re-tipping saw blades
Requirements:
  • Positive work experience in current position at Loewen
  • Reliable (with an absenteeism record of less than 5% in the last three-month period)
  • Demonstrated focus on quality and precision accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, AutoCad and Moulder drawings
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
Assets:
  • Previous experience operating similar equipment
  • Knowledge of Loewen quality standards
  • Ability to interpret drawings
