Job Description

If you have strong organizational skills, the ability to interpret drawings, and are able to lift 50+ pounds frequently we invite you to apply for our Machine Operator - Planer position on the Day shift!   • Operate equipment according to safe operating procedures
  • Ensure components are withing tolerance, meeting specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensure equipment is operating efficiently
  • Identify, address, and communicate all issues regarding safety, quality, personnel and production as they arise to leadership
  • Ensure work area is clean and free of safety hazards
  • Ensure team is trained in the area focusing on quality, safe piling practices and paperwork
  • Flex and cross train as required by leadership
  • Participate in team continuous improvement activities
  • Identify opportunities and apply Lean principles to reduce waste
  • Participate in department 5S activities
Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and reading and writing basic sentences)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret drawings
  • Ability to take and interpret measurements and to accurately use a tape measure
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to interpret and cross-reference Loewen documentation (i.e., work instructions, glue instruction.)
  • Ability to apply Lean principles
Assets:
  • Previous experience operating similar equipment
  • Knowledge of Loewen quality standards
