Job Description

We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join the Maintenance team. This position will have a strong focus on dust control maintenance and general preventative maintenance duties.This position is scheduled on a rotation and includes both day and evening shifts. Days shifts are 6:00 am - 4:30 pm. Evening shifts are 4:00 pm to 2:30 am. Must be available to to work occasional Saturdays.Duties:

  • Taking verbal and written instructions from managers and maintenance leaders
  • Clean assigned work areas and assist with garbage collection
  • Performing tasks associated with maintenance activities as assigned
  • Wood block management (feeding the boiler and grinding blocks)
  • Delivering water to departments within the plant
  • Assist/ perform FRL preventative maintenance
  • Filter preventative maintenance (assist Mechanics and Power Engineers)
  • Organize /clean up the storage areas in east parking lot.
  • Clean grates in shipping area (PM work)
  • Keep compound clean and orderly
  • Assist Power engineers with snow removal (seasonal)
  • Assist in painting, moving, assembling racking
  • Perform basic repairs as required
  • Repair air hoses and air tools
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Ability to read and interpret written work orders
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment
  • Physically fit with the ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for extended periods of times
  • Ability to work at height. (Scissor lifts, ladders, scaffolding and genie boom etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Previous experience as a maintenance worker preferred
