DUTIES:

• Work as a member of a team with department leadership to run an effective, efficient department
• Provide motivation and direction to the shipping team and ensure their safety and well-being
• Inspect units prior to being received, ensuring that units meet quality, packaging and height restrictions and standards
• Scan units prior to storage or loading and insure units are stored and loaded into appropriate bin or van
• Physically transport units to and from the allocated bin
• Ensure units are stored and loaded into the bin or van in the proper order and ensure on- time completion of the loads
• Train new staff
• Complete regular dock audits
• Build crates for glass and windows
• Flex and cross train as required by leadership
• Other duties as assigned

AS BACK-UP CLASS ONE DRIVER, YOU WILL:

• Provide transportation services between Steinbach, Winnipeg and surrounding based on business needs.
• Deliver product to customers, lead and assist with unloading, making sure unit count is correct and product is not damaged.
• Communicate with customers regarding the estimated time of arrival
• Keep open lines of communication with office staff for added assignments
• Conduct pre and post trip inspections, and schedule repairs and advise leadership as required
• Investigate local Spring Road Restrictions prior to delivering product
• Locate and relocate trailers to accommodate efficient loading and unloading
• Monitor trailers for tampering and communicate security concerns to Transportation

THE SKILLS WE LOOK FOR:

• Minimum 1 year driving experience
• Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
• Effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Strong mathematical skills
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Strong focus on safety, quality and precision details
• Ability to frequently and safely lift up to 100 lbs
• Experience in manufacturing, wood working, carpentry, engineering, design/architecture is an asset
• Punctuality and team commitment
• Your own transportation is required
