Job Description

The Resident Attendant shall provide personal care and other services to residents in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Home.Part Time and Full Time Positions available for Nights or EveningsKey Responsibilities:

  • Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner
  • Complete scheduled care services required from the resident and document the completion of the assistance and care provided
  • Participates as a member of the care team and provides support to the other members of the Services team; assist with feeding, toileting and ambulating residents.
  • Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
  • Assists and attends to care needs of the residents as required
  • Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
  • Aware of employees and supervisor’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
  • Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
  • Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
  • Other related duties as assigned, such as keeping resident rooms clean and tidy, folding their clothes, taking their temperature and weight
Education/Experience:
  • Previous experience in providing personal care
  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
  • Preferred post-secondary education in related care fields of PSW/HCA/ DSW certification
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
  • Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
  • Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
  • Must be able to operate related equipment
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift and carrying heavy items
