Due to growth into an exciting new sector, our client is looking to hire a Plant Controller for its Hamilton area location.The RoleThe Plant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and SVP who are both located at Head Office. The Plant Controller is responsible for all aspects of Finance for the Hamilton plant. You will manage 3 direct reports and take overall responsibility for the month end close, journal entries, costing, inventory management, billing and A/R, purchasing and A/P. You will also be responsible for leading the implementation of the new ERP system at site. You will prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting and be part of the site leadership team.What do you bring to the role

  • You have a strong accounting background with 5+ years of cost and financial accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • You possess strong computer skills, specifically relating to Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
  • You are a well-organized, proactive and detail oriented individual able to self-manage and work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • You are a highly technical accountant that has strong attention to detail and can offer process improvements and innovative solutions
  • CPA designation
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication and construction also an asset

Job Requirements:Responsibilities:
  • Take responsibility for all accounting, financial reporting, and projections for the Hamilton plant, working closely with senior management on financial matters, budgeting, and managing financial targets
  • Manage all financial operations for the plant including costing, billing, accounts receivable, purchasing, inventory management, accounts payable, and maintaining the general ledger
  • Lead the ongoing implementation of the ERP system, along with associated processes and internal controls
  • Be part of the plant leadership team, integrating new staff and ensuring continued improvement and development of the team
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for external stakeholders and management, and assist with the month-end closing and year-end audit processes
  • Set up a capital expenditure process to evaluate and track capital spending
  • Identify risk areas, evaluate best practices, and implement process improvements
