Job Description

About us:Mon Sheong Foundation (MSF) is a Canadian registered charitable organization and has been proudly serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1964. Our philosophy is by caring for the elderly and nurturing the young, and providing programs and services to meet the needs of our communities.Throughout our history, we have constantly introduced new initiatives to fulfill our mission, and today we are home to four long-term care centres, an adult day program, three Chinese school campuses, a youth group, two community and volunteer services centres, three independent living senior apartments, private care, and charity care units. We provide an exceptionally high level of care for our residents and have received accreditation from CARF for our quality care excellence.We have a dedicated team and are continuously seeking talents to meet current demand and the growth of our organization.Position Summary:Reporting to the Building Services Supervisor or designate at Mon Sheong Stouffville Long Term Care Centre, the incumbent must maintain a comfortable, safe, and aesthetic environment for the residents, staff and visitors. All work will be carried out in accordance with health and safety guidelines and procedures to ensure the safety of residents and staff.Main Duties:

  • Operate building systems, monitor and secure facility including furnishings; bathrooms, toilets, and drains; life safety system such as fire alarm system and fire suppression and protection systems; elevators; mechanisms associated with security and emergency exits, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; hot water boilers and circulation mechanism; emergency backup power generator and associated switching equipment; cooler, freezer, and kitchen equipment; residents’ aiding equipment such as grab bars, walkers, lifters, wheelchairs, and nursing-call system; entrance, driveways, walkways, parking lots and the associated lighting, support services equipment such as laundry equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance work requests and record all repairs.
  • Direct traffic in the parking lot during special events.
  • Record building systems operations information and report any unusual / alarm messages to Building Services Supervisor in conducting routine inspections.
  • Maintain the maintenance workshop in good condition at all times.
  • Follow the Health and Safety regulations at all times.
  • Understand, observe, and practice all fire safety regulations and procedures.
  • Respond to all emergency calls.
  • Monitor and report building supplies inventory to Building Services Supervisor.
  • Prepare facility settings for specific events and functions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties as scheduled.
  • Provide access to contractors attending service calls.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Building Services Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years’ experience in general maintenance and building operations and one of which should preferably be in long-term care or other health care facility.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with commercial building operations covering electrical distribution system; backup generator; heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC) system; life safety systems such as fire alarm system and fire suppression and protection systems.
  • Relevant training leading to Building Environmental System Operator Class I certificate or equivalent is a plus.
