Job Description

Earthbound Kids connects children to natural fun in the safe and scenic setting of the Earthbound Kids tree farm. Inspiring their passion for the planet through adventure packed summer camps, active outdoor birthday parties and rich school programs. Earthbound is seeking energetic, passionate, caring people to join our team for the 2020 season!At Earthbound, we have many furry friends for our campers to meet! Our aim is to introduce the importance of caring for animals and teach children the importance of respecting animals and nature.The Animal/Agricultural Programmer is responsible for providing age appropriate programming for children ages 4 to 12 that allows campers to interact with the small animals on the Earthbound farm. They are also responsible for the care of our pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits, alpacas, lambs, guinea pigs and ponies. The incumbent is to ensure the health, safety and well being of the children in his/her program. This staff member is also responsible for assisting with camp wide events, emergency procedures, and attending staff meetings and training.Responsibilities:

  • Teach children about our animals and how to properly care for animals.
  • Plan and instruct fun, knowledgeable lessons based on our animals for children age 6-12.
  • Daily cleaning, feeding and caring of small animals.
  • Demonstrates the confidence and ability to make decisions independently of peers and in the best interests of the campers. Resolves problems and conflicts effectively as they arise.
  • Provide imaginative, diverse, and non-repetitive programming that provides choice and allows campers to use their creativity.
  • Interests and needs of all campers are met, the activities are developmentally appropriate, have variety and allow campers to move at their own speed
  • Programming reflects camp philosophy and goals, age and skill level of campers and is culturally diverse.
  • To help ensure efficient and effective operation of the Program Area including equipment and facility maintenance, and all administrative duties associated with this position.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with animals or educational background in agriculture, animal science or wildlife biology
  • Comfortable handling animals in an open setting with children
  • Minimum Age: 16 years old
  • Experience working with children; knowledge of child development;
  • Previous experience as a camp counsellor; completion of a counsellor-in-training/leader-in-training program would be an asset.
  • Previous camp experience is an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’ required;
Start Date: June 13 - 20th, 2022Hours: 35-40 hours/weekCompensation is based on experience.Job Type: Fixed term contractSalary: $16.00 per hourSchedule:
