Job Description

Robert B Somerville is a growing Construction Company in Ontario. We are looking for great people in our expanding workforce in the utility Infrastructure.General OverviewReporting to the site supervisor, the Utility Labour will be assisting crews, working towards the achievement of utilities(Hydro / Telecom) projects. This position is based in York Region, ON, with travel to various sites in the GTA.Key Responsibilities

  • Setup and constant maintenance of construction sites.
  • Move materials and equipment and perform excavation, and compaction activities.
  • Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction materials; move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas).
  • Excavate, backfill, and compact subgrade (e.g. move and level earth using shovels and rakes, operate pneumatic tampers).
  • Assemble shoring and barricades at construction sites.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuously changing work tasks.
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Knowledge and Experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a similar role within the industry.
  • Class G drivers’ license or equivalent.
  • AZ/DZ license considered an asset.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • A safety-conscious attitude.
  • The ability to work with others in a team.
  • Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
  • Comfortable to work long hours per day sometimes in rough weather conditions.
Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $24.00-$27.00 per hourSchedule:
  • 10 hour shift
