Job Description

SummaryThe Shop Assistant will work with the shop manager to ensure that orders are completed in a timely manner with a strong focus on quality. The Shop Assistant will report to the Shop Supervisor.Duties- Develop and maintain excellent staff relationships and a positive and safe team environment in all aspects of work.- Provide exceptional service to customers in all areas of mill operations- Set-up and maintain all equipment to optimize safety and performance (e.g. blade sharpening, regular inspections, repair and/or replace parts, etc.)- Work on customer orders and complete proper paperwork- Communicate with office and yard staff regularly to coordinate shop orders- Complete shop orders for customers in timely and efficient manner with focus on quality.- Develop and maintain safe work practices for all aspects of work shop operations- Help shop supervisor monitor stock of plywood, request office staff to reorder plywood when stock is low, and restock plywood when new deliveries arrive.- As with other positions at CML, the Shop Assistant may at times be assigned other duties as needed to complement the overall team.Experience and Qualifications- Prior experience operating and maintaining shop equipment and hand tools- Excellent woodworking skills- Ability to prioritize tasks, especially during times of peak activity- Ability to stand, bend, and lift material throughout the work dayJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $17.00-$20.00 per hourAdditional pay:
