Job Description

We are currently recruiting a full-time Dairy Farm Labourer/Herdsperson a dairy operation located in Stratford, ON. This farm presently milks 60 cows on the Delaval robot and is in the process of expanding to a 2nd robot.We need a hardworking, self-driven individual who is passionate about providing proper livestock care to join our team! A background in agriculture and knowledge of livestock practices are assets, but we are willing to train the right candidate.This position is full-time and offers 50-65 hours a week. Hours of work will vary but are flexible. You will be required to work every other weekend.We offer competitive wages based on experience and expertise. Wages and duties will increase based on your expertise and continued learning on the job. Accommodations are included with this position.   • Feed, and tend the stalls.
  • Maintain herd health by providing vaccinations and recognizing, diagnosing, and treating health issues.
  • Dry cow and transition duties include calving, treating fresh cows, newborn calves, etc.
  • Maintain records using herd management software, and training provided.
  • Safe and effective operation and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment
  • General farm chores and barn maintenance duties are required as needed.
  • Fieldwork and operating equipment as needed, experience is an asset
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude are a must.
  • A passion for animal health and welfare.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Livestock farming experience is an asset, willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a proven track record of punctuality.
Work Environment and Conditions
  • Work is performed outdoors and inside barns and other outbuildings.
  • The environment can often be noisy.
  • Physically demanding, fast-paced work.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
