Position OverviewReporting to the Production Manager, the General Labourer position can include (but is not limited to) restoration activities including demolition, cleaning, emergency flood service, restorative drying, fire and smoke damage cleaning and deodorization, content cleaning, pack out and storage and other specialized cleaning both on site and in the warehouse.Job DutiesPerform activities including light repairs, demolition and general cleaning as neededEnsure work is completed according to measurements, specifications, drawings, plans or other production materials/instructionsProactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may, or are affecting completion of job to the appropriate personPerform Water / Flood and Contents duties as requiredParticipate as directed in the following activities:o Vehicle safety and maintenance inspectionso Maintaining vehicles in clean serviceable conditiono Constructing polyethylene enclosureso Removing and disposing of debriso Maintaining equipmentWill practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksiteProvide excellent customer serviceWork under time constraints to meet specific timelinesEnsure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and informationParticipates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices;follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipmentComply with all Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirementsProactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate personThis role could be required to act as a “lead” periodically as designated by their managerAttend all Belfor sponsored training coursesQualificationsConstruction / Restoration / Insurance experience preferredForklift Certification considered an assetComprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practicesEligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor’s vehicle policyAbility to work within a team or independently as neededWritten and verbal communication skillsProven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environmentBasic computer and/or tablet/iPad experienceWilling to work evenings, on call and weekends when requestedPeriodic travel may be requiredCriminal Record CheckPhysical DemandsFrequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time)Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time)Access and mobility in tight spacesFit Testing – half and full face mask as needed, annual certification requiredWorking at Heights - over 5 feet, periodicallySustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneelingBELFOR (Canada) Inc. is an inclusive and equal opportunity employer.
