Job Description

Benmet is a leader in the scrap metal recycling industry located in the heart of Guelph, ON. We are rapidly growing and have expanded to another yard in Stratford, ON. We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable individual to oversee non-ferrous operations and meet the needs of a fast paced, growing company. We offer competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and plenty of opportunity for growth and advancement.DescriptionThe Non-Ferrous Supervisor is a key role in the production of recycling non-ferrous scrap metal. The primary function is to manage the daily operations and employees of the non-ferrous processing warehouse. This is a leadership position where you will ensure the safe and efficient execution of all duties by warehouse staff.Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the non-ferrous yard. Adjust yard processing to meet production demands and improve inefficiencies
  • Manage employees and take disciplinary steps as needed. Implement safety rules to all employees
  • Conduct monthly warehouse inspections and physical inventory counts. Review equipment inspections daily
  • Manage facility inventory. Prepare and review outbound shipments. Grade material inbound and outbound as needed
  • Various other tasks will be required and assigned as needed for continuous flow of operations
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment. Follow all Benmet and OSHA safety requirements in all aspects of the day-to-day operations and lead by example to all employees
  • Under guidance from the Operations Manager, manage the overall levels and quality of numerous NF Metals
  • Ensure Materials shipped meet the exact requirements of the customer’s order and maintain traceability.
  • Close all shipments with necessary documentation flow.
Requirements
  • 3-5 of supervisor experience with previous experience in metal recycling operations or heavy manufacturing
  • Familiarity and basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
  • Effective, working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Well cultivated interpersonal and management skills
  • Physical capabilities; must be capable of safely lifting weights of 50lbs - 70lbs or more, stand for continuous periods of time, crouch, bend etc.
  • Mental dexterity; the ability to work independently while demonstrating high attention to detail and continuous awareness
