Job Description

Omex Manufacturing ULC located in Stratford, Ontario produces automotive parts for several major manufacturers, and our product portfolio includes a wide array of stamped, welded, and assembled components.*_Production Leadhand – Afternoon Shift_*We are currently recruiting for an Afternoon Shift Leadhand with a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience to join our rapidly expanding business. The successful candidate_ will report to the Production_ Supervisor while assisting them with production activities. They will be tasked with training of production colleagues in production methods and safety, as well as maintaining team morale and creating a positive and safe work environment.*_General Responsibilities: _*

  • Assist and train new employees in job duties and safety procedures
  • Confer with production supervisor to resolve production team member problems, complaints and performance issues
  • Oversee shift in the absence of the Production Supervisor
  • Assist with setups, as needed
  • Troubleshooting, problem-solving of equipment
  • Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work area
  • Perform cycle counts
  • Move inventory to appropriate locations within the shop floor
  • Assist with production, when necessary
  • Assist Supervisor, as required
*_Qualifications: _*
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a team lead or supervisory role within a automotive production setting.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Forklift experience
*_Skills and Competencies: _*
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize many different tasks and meet deadlines in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of associates.
  • Knowledge of TS16949 & ISO 14001 automotive quality standards.
  • Press operation, an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, an asset.
  • Able to be on-call for Continental coverage (this is on a rotation, once per month).
