Your Opportunity:The Health Care Aide provides resident care services as an unregulated worker, under the direct supervision of the RN or LPN. As a member of our nursing team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills and abilities to competently provide direct care to our residents. Resident care includes assisting with activities of daily living and other nursing related activities. Sundre Hospital and Care Centre is in a rural community in west central Alberta. We work in a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/ER and continuing care environment. The Sundre Hospital and Care Centre is an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long term care beds, 4 restorative care beds and a five stretcher emergency department. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.Additional Required Qualifications:A graduate of a recognized educational program (or equivalent) with a certificate as a Health Care Aide. Able to perform duties that involve periods of physical activity including standing, walking, bending and lifting and transferring patients. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references 3 of which are to be provided with your application. Evident upkeep of annual continuing education within AHS or other employer’s equivalency in: AHS orientation, CPR – C, It’s Your Move, Alberta Continuing Care Health Service Standards, Protection of Persons in Care, Patient and Family Centered Care 101, Understanding Responsive Behaviors or Supportive Pathways, Emergency Response Codes (10), Palliative Care for Support Workers, Medication Assistance in Long Term Care, Safe Bathing Competency, AHS Secure – collect it protect it, Infection Prevention and Control, Respect in the Workplace, Patient Relations, Ethics Governance Documents Policies and Procedures, RAI-MDS Paper Tracking Tool.
