Sundre Hospital is an acute care hospital with a busy emergency department as well as acute care, and long-term care departments providing service for the Community and surrounding area. This is a working level Laboratory Assistant I position utilizing technical skills and judgment performing a diverse range of procedures within the scope of practice of a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA). Qualified MLA's will be considered for this position. Applicants must be able to work independently and perform all aspects within the scope of practice of an MLA including all specimen procurement and blood collection procedures as well as cardiology and urinalysis including microscopic analysis. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Urinalysis experience including microscopic analysis is required. Cardiology training and experience including ECG's and Holter Monitors. Able to perform all blood collection procedures including: venipuncture, micro-punctures, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Meditech LIS is an asset. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Experience using MUSE and Cardioday applications.
