Job Description

Southpoint Children’s Centre is accepting resumes Position: Before and After School Care Program Staff Closing Date: September 30th, 2022 Start Date: September 1st, 2022 Southpoint Children’s Centre (SCC) is located on the unceded ancestral homelands of the Semiahmoo Nation recently known as South Surrey/White Rock BC. SCC has been providing high-quality care in the community for 17 years.SCC programs are emergent, focusing on children’s gifts, talents and interests. We offer a variety of activities and create environments where relationships and supportive communities thrive.SCC VISION: At SCC we learn, grow and engage with the worldSCC core values: RESPECT, INCLUSION, COMMUNITY, FUNSCC is looking for program staff who:

  • believe children learn best following their interests and passions
  • know children learn through all their senses
  • implement emergent programming
  • develop strong relationships with families
  • value a sense of belonging
  • are flexible and have a great sense of humour
  • are enthusiastic, creative and approachable.
Staff will: - have completed a minimum 20 hrs of education/training in working with children aged 4-12 years- hold a Class 5 driver’s license (willing to obtain Class 4 an asset)- valid First Aid certification (or willing to obtain prior to start date)- complete a Criminal Record Check- provide three references (one personal and two professional).Preference may be given to those who: - are licensed Early Childhood Educators.Responsibilities include:
  • supervision of children
  • transporting children to and from school
  • regular communication with parents/guardians
  • ensuring program is inclusive and welcoming
  • providing a safe, welcoming environment where children can create, explore and play
  • taking children on outings and providing opportunities for outside play.
Salary/Benefits:
  • up to 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are split on regular school days with full day shifts for non-instructional days during the school year and seasonal breaks
  • salary: negotiable, with an increase when class 4 is obtained. Wage
Enhancement Grant available for ECE qualified staff; currently $4/hour as per the Wage Enhancement Initiative
  • sick leave and professional development for full time permanent staff
  • 2 weeks paid vacation your first year.
