Build a Future at the City of Surrey.Employment StatusUnion - CUPE Local 402 - Temporary (Grant).ScopeThe City of Surrey’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and is looking for an enthusiastic Summer Program Junior Leader for public programs, tours, and special events at Historic Stewart Farm.ResponsibilitiesPrepares and delivers hands-on heritage activities for visitors.Performs heritage demonstrations.Assists with researching crafts, activities, and demonstrations.Interprets local history.Leads guided tours of the site.Oversees crafts and activities during special events.Supports the site’s Summer Day Camp programs as neededQualificationsCompletion of Grade 10, supplemented by some relevant experience or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience will be accepted. Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain prior to start). Previous experience working with children and the public and delivering programs to preschool and child audiences Experience in a heritage facility setting is an asset. Students enrolled in Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, Archaeology or Education will be suited to these positions. These positions are supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. These positions are contingent on Federal Government Grant funding. Successful candidates must meet the criteria set forth by the Grant Program, including: Between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment. Must be current (January - April 2023) full-time student in a recognized post-secondary program.
