Join us as the Indigenous Relations Manager and you’ll be part of the Communications and Indigenous Relations team supporting the Tilbury LNG Expansion Project.Together, the Indigenous Relations, Community Relations and Communications teams work to develop integrated strategies that are pivotal to the success of FortisBCs Major Projects.As our Indigenous Relations Manager, you’ll use your excellent interpersonal skills to build, maintain and strengthen our relationships with Indigenous communities. You’ll enact our Statement of Indigenous Principles to support the development and execution of FortisBC’s projects and initiatives. This work includes engagement through regulatory processes to listen, learn, and incorporate community knowledge, understanding and mitigating concerns, negotiating and developing agreements (between FortisBC and communities to seek out potential economic or community partnership opportunities. In this role, you will:Develop strategic engagement plans.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies to minimize impacts on Indigenous communities and their interests.Brief senior management on issues and provide recommendations.Establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous community leaders and communities-at-large.Negotiate consultation and economic agreements while developing, managing and maintaining budgets.Develop strategic engagement plans.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies to minimize impacts on Indigenous communities and their interests.Brief senior management on issues and provide recommendations.Establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous community leaders and communities-at-large.Negotiate consultation and economic agreements while developing, managing and maintaining budgets. In year 1, you will:Understand the goals of our projects and initiatives and become an integral part of the team by building open, honest and respectful relationshipsSet up our projects and initiatives for success by developing strategic plans, gathering input on project plans from Indigenous communities, and building mutually beneficial partnerships.Walk-the-talk through implementing existing environmental and economic agreements In year 2, you will:Continue to progress discussions/negotiations toward project approvalInspire changes to the project (where necessary and practical) based on feedback received from communitiesSolidify yourself as the trusted face of the projects, and a known, collaborative, creative, problem-solver between FortisBC and our Indigenous community partners.
