Job Description

Employer provided pension, RRSP, and disability insurance.Salary: $85,000 CAD / yearPurpose of Position: Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate companies or departments responsible for the transportation and movement of goods. This position requires employee to not only perform a variety of operation duties, but also be a team player (creation of a positive work environment) by aiding and supporting all operation functions within the company.Experience/Education:

  • A college diploma or university degree in business or transportation administration preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience working both in logistics operational and commercial roles
  • At least 5 years of experience in account management, key account management, or sales
  • Experience working with SME and large transportationcorporations

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare to deliver future business growth and change
  • Optimize global operational set-up for account and drive productivity and quality improvements
  • Owns the SGL delivery against contract scope
  • Customer’s first contact for operational escalations
  • Owns the INTERNAL implementation, and leads the relevant processes with SGL Implementation team, IT, SGL products, Business Excellence, etc. as well as coordination with CKAM
  • Owns the KPI/data part of QBR presentations
  • Owns and leads the improvement commitments internally in SGL with SGL products / IT / Business Excellence teams etc.
  • Responsible to coordinate procurement of rates, calculate and measure runrate of contract scope with SGL procurement/product teams
  • Coordinate allocation & forecasting process with SGL Procurement and/product team(s)
  • Own setup/maintenance for tracking systems, e.g., Scanview, ScanOMS, mySGL etc.
  • Responsible for reporting including status reports to the customer
  • Own and maintain the operational SOPs for management of shipments
  • Identify and drive the general operational best practice in SGL in coordination with Business Excellence teams
  • Financial control hereunder controls of carrier invoices, SGL issuing correct invoices, timely invoicing, and general cost monitoring & control
  • Monitor developments in GP1 and GP2 and initiate internal corrective actions as needed in coordination with P/L owner
  • Facilitate timely replies to ad-hoc & spot quotes
  • Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
  • Handling of Air, Ocean and Road bookings and shipments (import and export)
  • Booking of cargo and negotiation of ad hoc rates with carriers
  • Shipment’s pickup arrangements and planning
  • Shipments delivery arrangements to the final customer
  • Solving of internal and operation problems on a diligent and business efficient manner to prevent service deficiencies and/or customers’ dissatisfaction
