Job Description

Central City Brewers and Distillers is a craft brewery in the business of developing and selling international award-winning premium craft beer and high-quality distilled spirits brewed without compromise. Based in Surrey, British Columbia, CCBD was voted Canada Best Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012. Its Red Racer brand has become a cult icon among craft beer enthusiasts throughout North America. Founded in 2003 as a brewpub and liquor store in downtown Surrey, CCBD celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 with the grand opening of a brand new, 68,000 sq. ft. brewery and distillery on Bridgeview Drive. In 2019 we opened a 40,000 sq. ft. storage facility with approximately 2000 barrels of whiskey ageing in this facility. We are proud of being a local-Canadian Brewery that is currently expanding. In 2021 the company completed installation of a new canning line designated for contract manufacturing.JOB SUMMARYThe Production Manager will be responsible to direct, manage and lead all production operations to ensure production of the manufacturing facility in driving operational excellence and maximizing organizational growth and profitability. He/she will oversee the management of all areas of Production to ensure that products are manufactured in a safe environment, on-time and within cost objectives. Moreover, will develop, maintain, and continuously improve all production activities to assure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate objectives. This position reports to the Director of OperationsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all manufacturing operations and plant development activities to ensure on-time, on-quality and on-quantity production and shipment of conforming products and materials
  • Plan production flow, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, address staffing issues, and overseeing the efficient execution of daily production orders
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistency in processes, improve product quality, and prevent health and safety issues
  • Propose and execute plant operational budgets, capital budgets, and resource requirements
  • Employ sustainable, LEAN manufacturing processes, and lead departmental participation in company’s continuous Improvement program
  • Assist with plant or line start-ups, and breakdowns, fault finding and repairs outside of the capability of the production or maintenance staff
  • Develop a healthy employee relations environment promoting a balanced approach to safety, quality, service, cost, and work environment
  • Provide technical and operational input into development of product strategy & research and development of new and emerging products
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, and coaching to employees to ensure effectiveness of program, employee development, retention and growth while striving to accomplish company goals and objectives
  • Manage key performance measures in safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and GMP/sanitation
  • Managing departmental HSE programming, perform HSE audits and facilitate accident investigations
  • Providing a departmental operating budget, forecast, and required capital plans for planning purpose
  • Participating in management activities to support company’s long-term plans
  • Implementing cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, and labour
  • Coordinating manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production
  • Tracking, monitoring, and analyzing production outputs on a daily, weekly, and periodic basis
  • Develops production schedules in conjunction with the Director of Operations; plans, directs, and assigns duties for manufacturing personnel; schedules and authorizes overtime as necessary to meet production schedules
QUALIFICATIONS/DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial capacity within manufacturing, industry experience with alcohol beverage/brewery preferred
  • Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing with a strong record of leading in a continuous improvement environment
  • Clear understanding of production business processes and the contribution of each to an improved bottom line
  • Planning, structuring, training, monitoring, and optimization of production processes
  • Ensuring efficient use of personnel, machines and materials while maintaining the required customer delivery quantity, delivery performance and product quality
  • Further development of production layouts
  • Project management in relation to duplication, transfer and outsourcing of production areas or assemblies towards other global microdrones sites or / and third parties
  • Compliance with occupational safety and environmental requirements in the area
  • Close cooperation with the areas of quality, finances, product and process development and administration
  • Proven knowledge in budgeting, expense management, and capital equipment analysis
