Job Description

Then you should come see us, we have a great place for you to grow.JOB DESCRIPTION: The assistant manager (merchandise) is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the store with enhanced focus related to the ordering, receiving, returning, storing, merchandising of product and maintaining of accurate inventory records. Additional duties would commonly include serving as manager in absence of store manager/owner; helping to meet sales and financial objectives, including advertising and promotions planning; working on special projects; and facilitating communications between management and employees. The assistant manager performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of service to customers.DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: *Acts as an internal inventory auditor with sole responsibility for performing and maintaining cycle counts.*Adjusts inventory quantity as necessary to obtain proper inventory level/counts.*Reviews discontinued item report. Reviews previous sales history of these items to see if discounting and clearing of the item is appropriate or if a replacement item is necessary.*Reviews negative on hand report. Spot checks the items in question and makes necessary adjustments to inventory count.*Reviews special order and on-hold reports. Make necessary calls to customers or returns products to regular inventory as necessary.*Reviews gross margin reports. Suggest changes regarding store inventory in order to maintain desired levels for maximum turnover and profitability.*Supervise receiving and pricing of merchandise.*Ensure correct freight handling equipment is used to load and unload trucks.*Supervise and assist unloading incoming trucks as required.*Ensure that all safety precautions are taken when loading and unloading trucks.*Prevent loss and damage to merchandise in the receiving area.*Keep losses through error and / or theft to a minimum.*Make periodic reports on stock levels to store manager/owner.*Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.*Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.*Provide guidance and supervision for store Staff Members as directed by the store manager and store owner.*Assist store manager with staff meetings and training.*Serve as manager in manager’s absence.*Ensure that store fixtures, POS system, trucks, and other equipment are in proper condition to meet the stores operational needs.*Make suggestion to store manager when equipment requires replacement.*Identify current or foreseen operating situations and inform store manager in a timely manner to facilitate a solution.*Suggest rule or policy changes to store manager when you think such changes would improve efficiency, morale, operations, profits, sales, etc.*Be a positive role model by following company procedures.*Develop promotions to build store traffic.*Ensure that the sales floor and sales staff are ready for all promotions.*Understand and use merchandising techniques that produce the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.*Ensure end-caps and feature displays are properly merchandised, maintained, and changed on a timely basis.*Encourage employees to share their ideas and suggestions.*Greet and assist customers on the sales floor.*Be aware of shoplifting and take action, consistent with company policy, to discourage it.*Resolve customer claims and/or complaints in a manner that is timely, courteous, and discreet.*In the absence of the store manager, exercise sound judgment in the event that a departure from store policy may be required.*Understand become competent on the store POS system, credit card terminal and procedures related to purchases.*Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.*Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense.
