Job Description

Golden West Broadcasting has been connecting communities for 65 years. We are proud to tell local stories on CKSW, CJSN, The Eagle, Magic 97, and Swift Current Online.We are looking for a passionate News Reporter to join our team. Reporting to the Program Director, you will find and deliver relevant stories to our audience.The Role:

  • Gathering local stories: You will listen for the questions people in Moose Jaw are asking. Then you will find leads, interview sources, and verify information along the way.
  • Crafting content: You will prepare content for radio, social media, and Swift Current Online.
  • Delivering news broadcasts: You will record and edit news reports.
  • Cultivating local relationships: You will develop relationships with local stakeholders and news sources.
  • Engaging the audience: When conditions allow, you will appear at on-location events and broadcasts.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • You have proven experience in news and sports reporting.
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and are familiar with the Canadian Press Guide.
  • You are dedicated to your craft. You aren’t afraid to cover stories outside of business hours.
  • You are eager to engage with the community in Moose Jaw.
  • You are curious and like to learn new things.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Live performance, experience with WideOrbit, Burli, photography, and/or videography are an asset.

Experience:
  • Journalism: 2 years (preferred)
  • Broadcasting: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
