JOB POSTINGPermanent School Secretary – 35 hours per weekSwift Current Comprehensive High SchoolCompetition #2770Tentative Start date: August 23, 2021 or as soon after as possibleChinook School Division is looking to fill a permanent full time (35 hrs/wk) Secretary position at Swift Current Comprehensive High School. The Secretary is a team member who, in cooperation with the Office Manager, is responsible to the Principal for ensuring that the school office functions in an efficient and effective manner. This position requires the performance of secretarial/clerical tasks and related office functions to provide support for the principal, school staff and students.Required Qualifications:Must possess excellent interpersonal skillsPossess a Grade 12 educationCertificate in secretarial training at an institution or equivalent as recognized by the Board is an assetExperience as Secretary/Office Manager within a school is an assetSuperior knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuationKnowledge in basic accounting practicesKnowledge in the operation of equipment, such as photocopier, fax, telephone, and computerKnowledge of methods and procedures used in maintaining an officeDuties:Perform receptionist duties by greeting visitors and parents, assisting with the intercom system, answering the telephone, ascertaining the nature of business, providing information or redirecting inquires as requiredHelp track and monitor student attendancePerform various computer, word processing and typing responsibilities such as forms, school programs, correspondence, exams, student handbooks, school communication, newsletters, schedules and a variety of reports as directedOperate computer-based programs for accounting, student and personnel information as requiredEnter data and generate monthly and other reports in the student information, accounting and administrative systems as required by the Principal and Division Office personnelPromote the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School DivisionUpdate and monitor the school’s social media accountsBenefits:Starting wage may range from $18.01/ hr to $24.07/hr depending on qualifications and experience of the successful candidatePositive work environmentSuccessful applicants must agree to a criminal records check including a vulnerable sector search.
