Join a network of doctors in the second-largest municipality in Nova Scotia. In Sydney, opportunitity exists to work in a collaborative practice with existing staff and systems in place. Family physicians may participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in Sydney and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University.Responsibilities

  • order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • act as a patient advocate
  • report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
  • provide emergency department coverage on an on call schedule, if desired
Expected Hours
  • physicians choice: part-time or full-time
Qualifications
  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • all family physician must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
