The successful candidate will provide consultations in general pediatrics and sick neonates. CBRH is affiliated with the IWK Children’s Hospital located in Halifax, which provides travelling sub-specialty clinics, telehealth grand rounds, and an air transport program. Physicians may also participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in Sydney and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University. Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) opened its door to patients in 1995. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals.Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds.   • teaching , committees, advocacy
  • work a full scope of practice as a general pediatrician consult and refer to other medical practitioners - this includes office practice, consulting in the Emergency room, first call after hours to deliveries and NICU, phone advise to regional physicians and running codes
Expected Hours
  • Full-time
  • 5 days per week
  • 4 week holiday/year
  • negotiated time around religious and cultural holidays
Qualifications
  • Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
