Breton Ability Centre is in the process of significant transformation. We are seeking enthusiastic Residential Councellor llls for casual employment. As a member of the support Services Team, you will play an active role in implementing a social model of support and services for individuals with disabilities.The Residential Counsellor lll provides supports and services to individuals with disabilities and their families. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide support, advocacy, be involved in planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs to assist in promoting social, educational, vocational, personal, and healthy development of individuals.Qualifications: 1. Must have the community residential worker course/disability support worker diploma or equivalent2. Must have excellent work and attendance record.3. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills.4. 12 or equivalent.5. Must be current in all mandatory education. I.e., CPR, first aid, low arousal, emergency plan and WHMIS. Must have or be willing to take “Creating a Community of Learners†and “Understanding and Managing Challenging Behaviours†courses at the earliest date.6. Must be comfortable working in a team environment and actively contributing to a multidisciplinary team.7. Must be committed to the development of individuals with disabilities and fostering opportunities for independence for each person.8. Must be committed to influencing change and enable innovation and creativity.9. Must have excellent problem-solving skills, is an excellent communicator and take the initiative to address issues and concerns with the direct supervisor, as they arise.10.
