With abundant year-round recreational and cultural activities, we have definitely earned the name of “Brilliant All Year!” We are a growing and thriving municipality and as such the organization continues to move ahead in a progressive manner.A GREAT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY AWAITSDesktop Support TechnicianPermanent, Full time Wage Range - $31.43 – $37.52SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: The Desktop Support Technicians role is to support and troubleshoot organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, and repairing all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via remote support tools) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.This role works in coordination with the Town’s IT department to support administrative staff, the Mayor and Council, and Town-related public services.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users using town procedures, and implement and document solutions for new problems, including off-site repair for remote users as needed.2. Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot end user peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, software, and other products in order to deliver required desktop service levels.3. Receive and respond to incoming calls and support tickets regarding end user problems.4. Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications.5. Where required, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.6. Assist with other IT department members on projects when they require assistance.7. Actively engage with and investigate potential end-user issues and utilize internal ticketing system to log resolutions.8. Provide level 1/2 support and troubleshooting as needed.9. In coordination with the IT department, design, develop and execute new technology initiatives and systems in support of Town strategic and operational plans.TRAINING, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
