With abundant year round recreational and cultural activities, we have definitely earned the name of “Brilliant All Year!” We are a growing and thriving municipality and as such the organization continues to move ahead in a progressive manner.Do you want the chance to work with an amazing team where learning and thorough communication is an ongoing experience Do you want to have fun at the same time as providing a critical service to the entire Town If you are interested in this tremendous opportunity, we have an immediate opening for a:Youth Program Coordinator35 hours/week - Term to September 16, 2022Starting Wage $27.83Under the direction of the Youth Services Supervisor, the Youth Program Coordinator is a front-line position, which plans, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates social preventative programs for school-age youth in the Flipside Youth Centre, local schools, and other areas of the community.SUMMARY OF FUNCTION Build Developmental Assets and Developmental Relationships: provide positive experiences, relationships, and opportunities for youth in our programs and in our community. Be a positive role model and advocate for youth in the community – build developmental relationships with young people, give youth a voice in the community, and build community capacity for positive youth development. Plan, coordinate and facilitate the Flipside Youth Centre drop-in evening programs. Complete training in and facilitate the Heroes® program in local schools. Plan and facilitate regular youth events in the Flipside Youth Centre, skate park, schools and other areas of the community, involving youth in the planning and partnering with other organizations such as schools, businesses, agencies and other Town departments. Assist in coordinating Youth IMPACT Coalition initiatives such as Paint the Town, Pride Week Celebrations, and other advocacy projects. Facilitate the Stressbusters program in local schools. Maintain open communication between Youth Services staff, program participants, parents and community members, handling questions and concerns in a timely manner. Develop effective working partnerships with local schools, voluntary organizations, churches, youth groups, RCMP, and other Town Departments. Promote the activities of Youth Services programs using appropriate promotions and advertising methods, including social media, website, publications and presentations. Manage the day-to-day operations at the Flipside Youth Centre. Provide leadership and assist in training and supervising program assistants, volunteers, practicum students, and Leaders-in-Training. Purchase program and event supplies, staying within the allocated budget. Plan and participate in fundraising initiatives. Maintain up-to-date program statistics and outcomes reports. Complete all programs forms in a timely manner (eg. Critical Incident Reports, Behaviour Tracking forms, Health & Safety Forms).TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Diploma or degree in Child & Youth Work, Education or Social Work, or other Human Services field or equivalent training/experience working in a community youth program. Must be FUN and engaging, have a PASSION for working with children and youth, and able to maintain a high level of energy, patience and enthusiasm. Possess effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent group facilitation and creativity skills. Good understanding of marketing and social media programs. Demonstrated knowledge of preventative youth programs, trauma-informed care, positive youth development, program-planning, and risk management in youth programs. Ability to develop, coordinate and facilitate a variety of youth-focused activities that build developmental assets, provide opportunities for leadership, enhance social supports, promote positive relationships, and provide a safe place where all youth can feel empowered and valued. Ability to establish meaningful and professional relationships with children and youth, parents, staff, supervisors, schools, community members, and other agencies. Ability to plan for, maintain, and supervise the work of program assistants, practicum students, volunteers, and Leaders-in-Training. Proficient use of computer and Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams, and Publisher programs. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Knowledge of online registration programs or willing to train. Current 1st Aid, CPR & AED Certification. Class 5 license and reliable transportation. Food Safe Certification, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Mental Health First Aid and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training would be an asset. Must submit an RCMP Based Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Check before starting employment. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Hours of work will generally be 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Mondays & Fridays and 1:00 – 9:00 PM Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
