Winter Seasonal Arena AssistantMultiple PositionsCompetition No. JP22-030Internal/External PostingPOSITION SUMMARY:As a member of the Recreation team, this individual will have proven experience working in a team environment and demonstrate commitment to the safety program. Also performs a variety of duties to support the ongoing maintenance and operation of the arena and community centre facilities.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Cleans community centre by sweeping floors, washing windows, emptying waste receptacles, and removing snow from walkways
  • Communicates with the public and co-workers
  • Monitors public behaviour and enforces facility rules per operating procedures
  • Maintains and updates records such as daily incident reports, daily hazard assessments, checklists, and payroll records
  • Maintains arena facilities and equipment such as painting, replacing arena glass and replacing lights
  • Trained on ice maintenance to provide back up if required
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Recreation Operations Supervisor such as event set-up, health & safety duties, and operating computer & telephones
  • Participates in the workplace health and safety program, including worksite and hazard inspections
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in custodial work and operation of small equipment
  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Standard First Aid/CPR/AED an asset
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to provide a clean Police Information check
