It has a strong future in mining and milling, with an ongoing mission to grow as a safe, prosperous, and sustainable nickel producer.We invite you to be part of our evolution.Our TeamERM (External Resources Management) team is a group of highly skilled senior employees coordinating activities performed by the largest contracting groups on site and managing the execution of annual ACD plan (lateral and vertical development as well as all electrical, civil and mechanical construction activities), managing the execution of underground project specific type work (Thompson Mine Expansion), managing the execution of underground diamond drilling programs (both exploration and definition drilling) and managing the surface hauling and stockpile management contractors.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking an External Resource Management (ERM) Superintendent to join our Manitoba Operations Team. This is a permanent onsite position located in Thompson, MB.As the ERM Superintendent, you will provide leadership to continuously improve the capability of the team to meet the business goals for the Manitoba Operations. You will oversee the execution of the Mine Development Plan, underground diamond drilling programs, crushing, hauling and stockpile management.Additionally, in this position you will

  • Coach team members within the principles and values behind the HomeSafe philosophy
  • Ensure safe execution of all work associated with your portfolio. Conduct audits for all areas of responsibility on a regular basis and use risk hazard assessments to determine the residual risk and take appropriate actions to mitigate the risk to ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Drive for development, implementation and continual improvement of systems to support team activities to generate ever increasing value from the operation.
  • Ensure Projects comply with appropriate standards and meets HSE goals set for the Manitoba Operations, following Home Safe framework and evaluating/controlling effectiveness through the entire duration of the contacts.
  • Ensure the ERM team complies with all operations policiesamp; procedures.
  • Promote effective working relationships with all departments to improve the performance of the business.
  • Provide ERM resources and support to the operations ranging from participating on the teams to leading the work.
  • Participates in short and long-range business and capital planning and provide input to the Managers #39; plan.
  • Contributes to departmental and operational budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure successful execution of the Annual Capital Development plan to budget. Support project execution by ensuring the work meets project requirement utilizing the project management systems and tools in place.
  • Ensure all personnel working on site has the required training and qualifications for the work being performed.
  • Prepare the required documents for multiyear contracts RFPs (Request for Proposals). Coordinate site visits and manager RFP evaluation processes. Coordinate the mobilization/demobilization for new and existing projects.
About YouEducation:
  • The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in engineering with a P. Eng is an asset.
  • Certification as P.M.P (Project Management Professional) is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in underground mining, construction and projects environment.
Skills:
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, influence and collaborate with others to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled user of Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies, develop corrective action plans and follow ups.
  • Demonstrated understanding in scheduling and project management.
  • Solid understanding and appreciation for Health, Safety, Environmentalamp; Risk policy and procedures.
  • Strong analysis and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities.
