Job Description

Veterinary Assistant: Recent clinical experience in a veterinary hospital is required. Suitable candidates will be contacted by email.We are currently looking to hire a full time, Veterinary Assistant at our new, veterinary hospital in the growing community of Timberlea, Nova Scotia, just 15 minutes from downtown Halifax!Example of duties include:

  • Care of hospitalized patients, including; feeding patients, walking dogs, changing litter boxes etc.
  • Aid in setting up supplies needed for procedures and surgery
  • Restock exam rooms and treatment area
  • Clean and keep kennels, runs, exam rooms and treatment area tidy
  • Assist technician with taking of radiographs, patient treatments, laboratory work, filling prescriptions
  • Vacuuming and mopping of floors in kennel rooms, exam rooms treatment area
  • Hospital laundry
  • Answering the phone
  • Checking in patients and bringing patients into exam rooms
  • Admit hospitalized and/or drop-off patients
  • Cleaning and preparing of surgical packs and laundry
  • Assist veterinarian in the exam room with clients and/or draw up vaccines for appointments
