Job Description

Our client, one of Toronto’s top mid-sized business law firms has an opportunity for a full-time Accounting Generalist. This is a newly created position and will appeal to someone who would like to be mentored by an experienced Accounting Manager and has a passion to implement new technology..

  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Schedule: Full-time, Mo-Fr 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Compensation: $78,000 - $90,000 / year, based on experience
  • Work Model: Onsite 5 days per week from their office located in the heart of the Financial District near St Andrew subway station. Possibility of transitioning to a hybrid model after a few months
.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Day to day operational responsibilities for the accounting team of 3 clerks
  • Oversee the cash cycle including credit cards, trust transfers, and deposits
  • Responsible for all wires, EFTs, bank drafts, and US$ conversions
  • Monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts including any journal entries
  • Liaise with firm Accountants for year-end preparation and reporting for financial statements including adjusting journal entries to reflect corrections
  • Examine and verify the work of clerks engaged in the following duties: administering accounts payable and receivable; processing, verifying and recording financial documents and forms
  • Update/generate various reports as required (daily statistics, monthly/annual reports, audit query support)
  • Identify training needs and train workers in job duties and company policies
  • May perform the same duties as workers supervised
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting. Experience working at a law firm a definite plus.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Possess a strong work ethic with an attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of general accounting principles, policies, and methods
  • Knowledge of PcLaw and/or Clio is a huge asset
  • Ability to adapt and learn new software
  • Organizational and time management skills are essential; excellent at managing multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $78,000.00-$90,000.00 per yearSchedule:
