Job Description

Our well-established client in Thornhill has partnered with Kelly Services to recruit for an Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team on an 8-month contract. This is a great opportunity gain valuable experience while working for a dynamic organization.The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Head of Finance in managing all activities related to accounting functions of the company. This position will work with all departments and other finance team members to ensure financial activities are posted on a timely basis, meet all corporate policies, and accurately recorded.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Reporting

  • Lead the company’s overall accounting cycle (AR, AP), including coordination of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Manage the Month End Closing process, including the preparation and review of monthly financial statements to management team
  • Execute month end GL close and internal control processes related to the finance/accounting function
  • Review and ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations
Leading Local Accounting
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Work with each direct report to guide and monitor progress on annual goals and objectives and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
  • Oversees internal, external, and regulatory audit processes
Cash Management
  • Ensure adequate liquidity to meet company’s working capital needs – monitor and analyze cash positions to cover commitments
  • Forecast short term and long-term cash flow to optimize liquidity while maximizing the return on excess cash
  • Manage and track company working capital monthly
General
  • Manage the external audit process, acting as the main contact for the external auditors
  • Manage company Grants of Authority (GoA)
  • Prepare Canadian sales tax fillings and assist with annual corporate year-end tax return
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 4-year Bachelor #39;s Degree in Finance and Accounting
  • CPA/CGA/CMA/CA designation
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Prior people management skills preferred
  • Demonstrate knowledge of accounting procedures, policies, and systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment, but also able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal staff and external customers and possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced level skills using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
  • Oracle software skills (or similar ERP system) a strong asset
