We nurture an inclusive, supportive, and genuinely kind work environment at our three campus locations and remotely.If you want to shine a light on academic excellence, be empowered to make an impact on the transformation of the Canadian post-secondary education landscape, and work collaboratively beyond levels, join us.Who we needReporting to the AP Operations Lead and collaborating with the Finance Reporting and Student Finance teams, we are looking for an Accounts Payable Associate to join us as we implement a new ERP.You will take ownership of all aspects of the Accounts Payable function, including processing a high volume of supplier invoices, scheduled and non-scheduled payments and student refunds on a weekly basis. You will assist with mapping and optimizing existing processes for the new ERP system and executing test cases. In addition, you will have the chance to rapidly expand your knowledge and skills working on special Finance projects.This is a 12-month contract with the opportunity for renewal or to move across the Finance department into another role if qualified.Whats in it for youExposure, influence, collegial environment, and professional growth. In addition, you will have the chance to influence the smooth functioning of AP processes that impact both students and Faculty, playing a key contributor role on projects that create more automated, lean, and efficient processes.   • A high volume of invoices. You will process a range of complex accounts payable invoices, perform data entry of vendor invoices into the accounting system, and acquire the necessary validations and approvals. You will prepare and process electronic fund transfers (EFT), Wire and ACH payments of invoices, and ensure vendors are paid in accordance with established terms. You will manage accounts payable aging, and maintain vendor files and accurate historical records.
  • Verification. You will ensure all Purchase Orders match invoices and adhere to the companys policies and procedures. You will analyze supplier statements and follow up on missing invoices, reaching out to external contacts, such as vendors, to clarify or obtain details. You will verify appropriate expense allocation to cost centers and general ledger accounts. You will recommend actions for accruals in the event of missing invoices.
  • Projects. You will contribute to the ERP implementation, focusing on the Accounts Payable function. You will have the chance to enhance your knowledge of our AP processes, map them to the new ERP system, and execute configuration tests to ensure the new system functions as needed. In addition, you may have the opportunity to contribute to the Lea Project focused on optimizing our student refund process tied to changes in our registration process. You may also be designated the AP representative on a larger Faculty Payment project moving the process from manual to automated.
What you bring:
  • The background. You have a diploma or degree in Business, Commerce or Accounting and 2+ years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable from PO to invoice processing. You have practical knowledge of accounting practices, including internal controls within Procure-to-Pay processes, and understand the big picture impact of Accounts Payable. You have contributed to improving processes, increasing efficiencies, and resolving issues. You are detail-oriented, highly organized, and can work under tight deadlines.
  • The technical skills. You have intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Visio. You have worked with an ERP system such as Oracle, and may have been part of the implementation or process creation. Working knowledge of Sage 50 & Beanworks would be preferred.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have effective and flexible communication skills. You have a proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, building relationships internally and externally. You take a service-oriented approach to your work, seeking out ways to help in all areas of the department. You have an appreciation for diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds and an interest in continuous improvement and adopting recommendations from teams and colleagues.
