Work locations may vary; must be prepared to work and transferred to work at any of the Central Inventory Control work locations (Downsview/Hillcrest, Greenwood Complex, Duncan Warehouse, Harvey Shop Stores, Leslie Barns Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving & Distribution or Don Valley Warehouse). The incumbent will be required to travel between TTC locations and may be required to work outside of normal working hours, including shiftwork and on weekends with mid-week off days.Key Job Functions

  • Responsible for supervising the daily operations of the assigned work location
  • Ensuring appropriate materials management practices and principles are in place to protect the TTC’s assets while providing the materials and parts necessary to support ongoing operations
  • Daily functions include: stocking, storing and issuing materials and parts to Distributed Inventory Control and other TTC locations
  • Supervising unionized employees as they conduct warehouse functions
  • Maintaining appropriate forms, records and associated paperwork; entering information into the inventory management computer database (IFS)
  • Overseeing the investigation, reconciliation and adjustment of stock discrepancies; performing inventory control count/activities; compiling information for, and administering the operating and capital budgets of the assigned area
  • Participation in the TTC customer service Ambassador Program
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer

  • Sound knowledge of materials management and materials handling principles, methods and practices relating to the ordering, receiving, issuing, storing and management of materials
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills along with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; must be familiar with PCs and relevant computer applications (e.g. IFS)
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise a unionized workforce is required
  • Requires progressively responsible experience in job related functions; experience managing day to day issues that may arise concerning scanning issues; must have or acquire working knowledge of bar coding
  • Ability to motivate and assess a skilled unionized workforce, and to administer discipline in accordance with the Collective Agreement and TTC policies
  • Must become thoroughly conversant with all aspects of the TTC’s Stores operations, including inventory management, purchasing procedures and materials stocked relating to the operation of the assigned work location
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence and will be required to use own automobile to travel to various locations
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a thorough knowledge of the ATU, Local 113 Collective Agreement and Maintenance Seniority Regulations and relevant government legislation or regulations
  • The incumbent will also be required to complete various courses in effective supervision, and other courses related to the work
  • Completion of post-secondary education (Community College Diploma or University Degree) in a relevant discipline, or the equivalent with progressively responsible experience in job related functions
  • Previous Supervisory experience would be an asset
  • Certification from APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) with either a CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management)or a CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) would be an asset
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
