The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Its mission is to improve health through advocacy, equity and world leading primary health care, teaching and research.St. Michael’s is also home to the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, encompassing the Keenan Research Centre and the Li Ka Shing International Healthcare Education Centre, which integrates researchers, educators, and clinicians to advance patient care.For information about the Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Toronto please visit www. dfcm.utoronto.ca/The successful Clinician Scientist candidate will be responsible for directing and supporting a research program including obtaining peer-reviewed grants as principal investigator, writing high impact peer-reviewed papers, supervising students at the graduate level, and presenting at local, national and international meetings. Engagement with patients, clinicians, and policy-makers in the research process is expected. We are seeking a candidate whose research program aims to improve patient care and health outcomes in Family and Community Medicine.The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and College of Family Physicians of Canada certification in family medicine (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. There is a strong preference for family physicians who can practice comprehensive family medicine at the St. Michael’s Department of Family and Community Medicine and Academic Family Health Team.A graduate degree or equivalent in health services research, epidemiology, a relevant social science or related fields is required. An outstanding track record of accomplishment in research including grants, publications and presentations appropriate for career stage is required. Evidence of working with policy makers and/or teams across disciplines to answer complex health care questions and engagement of the end users of research is a critical asset.
