This role is responsible for leading PSSP toward an innovative, evidence-based approach to increasing our health equity and engagement impact in system change work.Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships and Engagement, the Assistant Manager leads the integration of equity and engagement planning and action in PSSP’s projects and initiatives. This requires sitting at project leadership and planning tables, as well as supporting the teams and roles who lead equity and engagement work on the ground. They provide direct supervision to the program’s provincial Equity and Engagement team, which includes planning and overseeing individual work plans and the delivery of these programmatic portfolios of work. The Assistant Manager also provides a point of connection and collaboration for PSSP’s Regional Equity Coaches-they work with PSSP’s Regional Managers to provide direction, planning and support to this role. They work across PSSP management and teams to ensure there is alignment and collaboration across all of the program’s health equity and engagement work. This role also supports the continued development and implementation of programmatic structures, supports and mechanisms to guide PSSP’s work in these areas.They will maintain key internal and external partnerships related to health equity and engagement, including provincial networks, tables, organizations and stakeholders. Working with the Senior Manager, as well as the program’s Leadership and Management teams, the Assistant Manager will contribute their leadership and content expertise to programmatic planning, capacity building, and change processes as they relate to equity and engagement.We are seeking a leader who brings an exceptional level of emotional intelligence and demonstrated experience in fostering a healthy and safe work environment. The leader will have an approach grounded in the principles and practice of anti-oppression and anti-racism, including an understanding of the privilege, power and responsibility that accompanies a management role. They will bring deep knowledge of and experience in how to support and supervise team members in equity-focused roles. The Assistant Manager role oversees unionized staff that are members of OPSEU and thus will uphold the rules and responsibilities as outlined in the CAMH/OPSEU Collective Agreement. They will support a workplace that embraces diversity, fosters inclusion, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position is located at our Ursula Franklin site, Toronto, ON.QualificationsMaster’s degree in health sciences, social work, diversity, equity studies, gender studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.5+ years relevant experience working in mental health services or systems, preferably in a position of management or leadership.Supervision or other leadership experience is required; experience supervising teams and roles responsible for equity work is preferred.Demonstrated ability to provide a supportive culture of inclusion and psychological safety to staff and teams.Extensive knowledge of approaches that promote health equity, including anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice, 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion, community engagement, cultural safety, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and human rights and accessibility frameworks.Experience using and coaching others to use tools, processes and best practices related to health equity, including the Health Equity Impact Assessment tool.Direct experience leading or supporting the engagement of people and family members with lived experience, preferably in a mental health/substance use context.Prior experience working with communities experiencing systemic marginalization in a health system, hospital or community-based mental health context.Familiarity with developing and implementing project-level plans and processes, as well as higher level strategies and frameworks.Skills related to training and capacity building design and delivery would be an asset.Experienced builder of partnerships and collaboration at a senior level.Demonstrated skill and confidence with using virtual technology as a means of engagement, supervision and implementation of projectsBilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is preferred and would be considered an assetPlease Note: This full-time, temporary position lasting one (1) year is NOT part of any bargaining unitSalary Range: Competitive salary and benefits packageCAMH is a Tobacco-Free Organization.CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a teaching hospital and research institute.
