The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine, in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date will be July 1, 2023, or one which is mutually agreed upon.The successful candidate will hold an MD and have certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent with training in Critical Care Medicine and have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario). Formal graduate research training is essential with a PhD or equivalent being preferred. Excellence will be assessed by advanced research training, successful grant capture, original first-author or senior-author publications, and invitations to speak at significant conferences.The successful candidate must be able to function proficiently in English and to demonstrate excellent communication skills and thrive within a collaborative, interdisciplinary and interprofessional environment. They will oversee the provision of critical care, in collaboration with the inter-professional team, during clinical weeks on call, in the role of attending physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. In addition, they will develop an academic profile and body of work establishing an independent clinical research program focusing on topic(s) relevant to Sunnybrook’s Priority Programs.Income for clinical and academic activities will be based upon a range of components, including fee-for-service billings, and will be highly competitive with the usual income range for an Academic Intensivist in the Province of Ontario.
