Job Description

Reporting to the VP Lifeco Corporate HR Business Relations, the AVP HR Business Partner translates Lifeco Corporate business/function needs into integrated Human Resource solutions to fully leverage people management, employee capability and organizational development within the business units.The AVP HR Business Partner contributes to the leader & employee experience by strengthening the understanding of HR strategies, policies and programs and by providing value added advice and counsel in all areas of Human Resources including: performance management, rewards and recognition, recruitment and retention, talent management, succession planning, employee relations and diversity.What you will doSTRATEGIC HR COUNSEL ON BUSINESS INITIATIVES

  • Partners with Executive Vice-Presidents and their global senior leadership teams to translate business needs into integrated Human Resource solutions.
  • Effectively builds relationships and acts as an HR advisor to the senior leadership teams on strategic business projects.
  • Provides subject matter expert counsel on people plans and people change management strategies that enable effective business implementation, integration and organizational effectiveness.
  • Liaises with HR Business Relations, HR Operations and HR centres of excellence (COE) in the development of communication and implementation strategies as it pertains to project activity at a divisional level.
  • Develops and evaluates organizational models that will maximize business performance, enable skill and capability alignment and minimize operational risk.
  • Partners with Global HR & COE colleagues to deliver HR solutions that contribute and enable the business to evolve to meet marketplace and regulatory demands.
  • Reinforces appropriate application of HR policies, standards and procedures to ensure alignment with the organizations vision, mission and values and to ensure adherence with legislative requirements.
  • Provides generalist HR policy interpretation and advice to enhance leader capability and to ensure adherence to HR policies, programs and standards.
  • Partners with Employee Relations and HR Governance to address the business on matters of workplace issues, employment legislative requirements to resolve issues that may arise in the workplace.
  • Partners with HR Operations on other governance related activities to support regulatory reporting and coordination of internal and external compliance and audit reviews.
HR PLANNING AND INTEGRATION
  • Understands divisional goals, objectives, and operating environment, develops and implements a line-of-business human resource plan to enable the business in meeting their goals and objectives.
  • Incorporates change management methodology into HR planning and integration practices (i.e. stakeholder and impact analysis, implementation and communication plan) to ensure smooth transition towards the desired end state.
  • Anticipates and plans for future human capability needs by analyzing and interpreting workforce information, reviewing results of employee surveys, and discussing top of mind issues and concerns with business and HR leaders.
HR PROGRAM DELIVERY
  • Supports divisional business strategy and objectives through the delivery of end-to-end HR solutions ranging from strategic positioning to implementation.
  • Plans and coordinates the delivery of annual HR programs related to performance management, talent planning and compensation.
  • Exceeds client expectations by effectively managing priorities, deliverables and ensuring HR solutions in division are rolled out in an integrated, efficient and timely manner.
  • Works with the divisional leadership team to ensure their HR requirements are met and to help build a working environment conducive to high levels of employee commitment and engagement.
  • Maintains an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in HR. Proactively recommends changes to existing/historical practices to increase value-add to the client group.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AND CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT
  • Defines, assesses and develops organization capabilities required to drive business priorities.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to business leaders on HR policies, programs and processes (i.e. performance management process, succession planning process) to ensure consistent application of HR programs.
  • Helps leaders identify and resolve performance management concerns including assistance with the escalation working in partnership with HR Employee Relations.
  • Partners with Learning and Development to identify training and development solutions to build capabilities within the division.
  • Provides leaders with guidelines, procedures and available tools from the HR centres of expertise to facilitate the delivery of all HR programs in order to enhance leader experience.
What you will bring
  • Extensive experience as an HR business partner.
  • Experience supporting Lifeco Corporate functions is an asset.
  • Post Secondary degree / CHRP is an asset.
  • The incumbent must be perceived as a trusted and credible advisor to Executives and Senior HR colleagues.
  • Proactively identify people related issues and opportunities and provide targeted HR solutions to address key business priorities.
  • Impeccable drive to implement HR strategies and programs for the business drive projects forward.
  • Driven to grow talent and improve organizational capabilities. Provide people leadership to the Director HRBP, Senior HR Advisors and/or Global HR team members within their team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and capable of providing effective guidance and challenge where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of program management, change management and implementation planning capability to effectively deliver HR solutions to the assigned client groups.
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset and approaches business issues with creativity and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong business acumen – understanding the business strategies and plans, external environment, and talent implications.
  • Highly proficient in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Proficient across a breadth of HR disciplines and expertise, and the ability to apply that knowledge to specific needs and opportunities.
  • Strong project and change management experience.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and impact and influencing skills.
  • Problem solving skills, ability to determine root cause of complex issues and arrive at sound HR/Business solutions.
