Job Description

As an integral member of our consulting team, the Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant is responsible for the analysis of client’s reporting requirements and development of specifications; modification of cubes, pipelines and processes to support report development; development of custom reporting; and training of clients in use of BI tools. Given our broad geographical footprint, they can be located anywhere in the US or Canada.Responsibilities:

  • Lead requirements gathering and design activities with client
  • Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used as the basis to develop the required reports, dashboards and budget templates
  • Develop reports, analytics, dashboards and budget templates to meet clients’ requirements using appropriate BI tool
  • Modify data warehouse, cubes, pipelines and/or data models to support reporting and dashboard requirements
  • Develop SQL views to support reporting and dashboard requirements
  • Convert legacy reports (FRx, Management Reporter and others) to BI tool
  • Provide formal training to clients on use of various BI tools
  • Provide technical assistance to clients as they develop reports on their own
  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members
  • Proactively communicate status, issues, and concerns to Director of BI and/or project manager
  • Maintain (or obtain within 6 months of hire) certification in at least one of the following BI tools: Sage Data & Analytics (SD&A), Sage Enterprise Intelligence (SEI), Solver, Prophix
  • Understand and follow NexTec Implementation Methodology and best practices
  • Independently manage work schedule and organize assigned tasks to meet deadlines. Independently resolve scheduling/workload conflicts while responsible for multiple activity streams and tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Business, MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Supply Chain or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years experience with Corporate Performance Management and/or Business Intelligence Tools developing automated reports and/or dashboards. Prior experience Solver (BI360), Sage Enterprise Intelligence (SEI) / Nectari , Sage Data & Analytics (SD&A / Zapbi), Prophix, Power BI all plusses
  • Experience with BI for Sage X3, Microsoft GP, Acumatica a plus
  • Solid working knowledge of basic accounting principals required
  • SQL skills preferred
  • Prior consulting experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in delivering end-user training
  • Results-oriented individual who can prioritize and execute activities in a high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver work product on-time and within budget
  • Demonstrated ability to work within defined project scope and recognize client request that are outside of scope
  • Customer facing, outgoing, and confident personality
  • Professional demeanor, able to work well with other team members as well as customers
  • Ability to take direction, as well as work autonomously
  • Ability to travel in the US and Canada from 10% to 15%
