Role: Business Analyst (Banking Domain) Ex-Database developerLocation: TorontoHybrid1yr contract Job Summary: We are seeking a Business Analyst with prior experience as a Data Developer to join our banking client #39;s team in Toronto. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business needs and data-driven solutions, leveraging their technical expertise in data development to analyze, interpret, and present key insights for banking operations. This role requires a strong understanding of banking processes, data systems, and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities: Requirement Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders (business users, IT teams, and management) to gather, document, and analyze business requirements related to banking operations (e.g., retail banking, risk management, payments, compliance). Data Mappingamp; Transformation: Utilize prior data development experience to analyze source-to-target mappings, ETL processes, and data models to ensure accurate reporting and analytics. SQLamp; Data Querying: Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze banking data for business insights. Reportingamp; Dashboards: Work with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to design and deliver reports/dashboards for business decision-making. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in banking workflows and recommend data-driven solutions for automation or optimization. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure data integrity and adherence to banking regulations (AML, KYC, Basel III, etc.) in all analytical deliverables. Stakeholder Communication: Translate technical data concepts into business-friendly terms for non-technical stakeholders. Agile Collaboration: Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprints, backlog grooming) as part of a cross-functional team.Required Skillsamp; Qualifications: 8+ years as a Business Analyst in the banking/financial services domain. Prior experience (2+ years) as a Data Developer, Data Analyst, or ETL Developer. Strong SQL skills (querying, joins, stored procedures) and familiarity with data warehouses/lakes. Knowledge of banking systems (core banking, payments, loans, fraud detection) and data flows. Experience with ETL tools (Informatica, SSIS, Talend) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau). Understanding of data governance, data quality, and regulatory reporting in banking. Excellent communication skills to liaise between business and IT teams. Bachelor #39;s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or related field
